YHL Participants hit the ice at the United Center

CHICAGO, ILL. – Youth Hockey League (YHL) participants from Canlan Sports West Dundee got their first taste of the big leagues on December 15th.

Instead of lacing up their skates at Canlan Sports, the players donned their equipment to play at the United Center, the famed arena that plays host to the Chicago Blackhawks

Two hours prior to the Blackhawks game against the visiting Washington Capitals that night, the YHL was the main event as players had access to their designated dressing rooms at the United Center, before hitting the big ice in front of friends and family.

Featuring no shortage of great passes, goals, and saves, the most common sight was the smiles on the player’s faces.

And, after the final horn sounded on their once-in-a-lifetime experience, players were able to stay on-hand and watch their hometown Blackhawks defeat Washington in a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory.

A stick-tap goes out to Bruce Peterson and the team at Canlan Sports West Dundee, as well as all of our participants and their families, for making this such a truly memorable event.

Registration for the Winter ’22 session of the YHL is now open!

The puck drops January 5th at Canlan Sports Romeoville, and January 8th at Canlan Sports West Dundee, so secure your spot before it’s too late!
