I’m not sure which level is right — how do you place participants?

< 1 min read

Our goal is to place every participant in an environment where they can be safe, challenged, and successful.

For Learn to Skate, start with the right age group (ages 3-6 or 7-12), then the skill level (Level 1, 2, 3). Participants may be moved to a more appropriate group based on their progress. If you’re unsure where to start, choose the program that best matches your child’s current ability — or begin with a Try program when available — and our team will help confirm the right fit.

For Skills & Drills, register within the appropriate age group (ages 4-8 or 9-14) first. At most Canlan Sports complexes, participants will be organized by skill level on the ice depending on the skill focus of the week. For complexes with skill-level specific groups (beginner, intermediate, advanced), please contact the Youth League and Program Manager for guidance on which group will be best for your child.
