What is Learn to Skate?

Learn to Skate is a beginner skating program designed to help participants feel comfortable and confident on the ice. Core skills include balance, stopping, falling safely, and moving with control. No prior experience is required — just a safe, supportive environment and instructors who meet participants where they are.

Who can participate in Learn to Skate?

Learn to Skate is available for participants aged 3 and up, through to adults. The program has four levels: Parent & Child, Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. The intent is for participants completing Level 3 to be ready to progress into Level Up Hockey. Participants who join at a level above Level 1...

What equipment do I need for Learn to Skate?

Participants are required to have skates and a properly fitted, certified helmet with a facemask. Some locations may have skates and helmets available for use. We also recommend warm clothing — a winter jacket, snow pants, and warm gloves — as sessions are held on the ice.

What can I enroll in after completing Learn to Skate?

Participants who complete Learn to Skate will be ready to move into Level Up Hockey, our introductory hockey program for youth. Adults who complete Learn to Skate are ready to move into hockey programming and should look for beginner Skills & Drills programs available at their complex.
