We aim to ignite a lifelong love of hockey, by building an inclusive, empowering and accessible grassroots experience, both on and off the ice. We envision a future where girls and women have an opportunity at Canlan to play, grow and lead through hockey. We’re creating spaces where girls and women are recognized, supported and inspired to own their place in the game – and change it for the better.
By 2030, we will share a compelling girls and women hockey story and create a clear pathway to attract 15% more girls and women registered at Canlan Sports, offering a greater variety of experiences and ice access, starting at the age 5+ with exclusive options.
EMPOWERING GIRLS HOCKEY FOR LIFE.
In 2024, Canlan Sports launched the She Plays initiative to champion girls and women's participation and representation in hockey. Within our ecosystem, we are identifying the challenges still faced, creating new opportunities to make the game more equitable and inclusive for all.
Girls & Women Registration
In 2023-24, total registrations for girls and women reached 201,923 with a +19% growth rate in Canada and 2.5% in the US.

Key Roles in Hockey
In important roles such as instructors, timekeepers and referees, women only account for 28% of the workforce.

Leagues (ASHL & YHL)
Female registration in ASHL remained stagnant at 8%. Girls' participation in YHL has grown by 33% but still only accounts for 15% of total registrations.

Girls & Women’s hockey Associations
With a focus on Girls and Women ice allocation their Hockey Associations accounted for 15% of long-term usage of our ice surfaces which is a 15% increase year over year.

We're here to create a fun, supportive hockey community where girls and women of all ages can build confidence, make meaningful connections, and grow into future leaders both on and off the ice.

Terms & Conditions: Prize includes (1) one 7 (seven) night Alaskan cruise for two (2) in a Veranda Stateroom, category – V1, V2, &V3 for Millennium & Solstice Class ships and category E1 to E3 for Celebrity Edge Class ships (excluding ES single staterooms), based on availability. Blackout dates include Holiday sailings and not valid on Celebrity Ascent during its inaugural year. Available ship and sail dates to be determined by Celebrity Cruises. Prize may not be exchanged with another ship or sail date once chosen. Beverages, wifi, airfare, shore excursions, upgrades, spa treatments, onboard purchases, transfers, gratuities and government taxes and fees are not included, and are the sole responsibility of the winner. The cruise certificate is valid for one (1) year from the date of issue. If the cruise certificate is not redeemed within the one (1) year period, the certificate will expire and be rendered null and void and no other prize or compensation will be awarded.
