Play Hard Hoops Core Philosophy is to teach the fundamental skills of basketball in an encouraging environment to help develop young basketball players of all ages and ability.  Play Hard is an instructional program that stresses teamwork, sportsmanship and the overall benefits of having a positive attitude.



David Adelman started Play Hard Hoops in 2009, which includes basketball instruction, leagues, tournaments and youth classes throughout the Chicagoland area. Play Hard Hoops currently runs programs for thousands of kids per year in over ten locations throughout the Chicagoland area. Play Hard Hoops is for players from beginner to advanced who are eager to improve as basketball players, while also learning the value of developing a positive attitude. Play Hard Hoops is committed to an advanced level of instruction with an outstanding coaching staff while providing an encouraging and safe environment.

Play Hard Hoops Canlan Sportsplex Director:  Ron Christians 

Coach Ron Christians has worked with Play Hard Hoops and is entering his fourth year of direction for several of the Play Hard Hoops programs.  Ron is a native of Wauconda, where he was an All-Area Player at Wauconda HS before playing four years at Loras College in Iowa.  Ron has coached with the Wauconda Feeder program and is a tremendous communicator and teacher.  His energy as a coach has helped continue to boost Play Hard Hoops into the premier youth basketball program in Chicago.


Skills Programs:

ROOKIE SKILLS K-3rd GRADE: This practice will break kids into age and skill appropriate groups while working on ball handling, passing, shooting, lay-ups, and defense. The practice will focus on teaching the rules of the game and a greater understanding of basketball strategy while providing and fun and safe environment for kids of all ages and ability.



DEVELOPMENTAL SKILLS 4th-6th Grade: This practice will break kids into age and skill appropriate groups while working on ball handling, passing, shooting, lay-ups, and defense. The practice will also focus on more advanced concepts as well as teaching the rules of the game in an encouraging environment for kids of all ages and ability.

Mondays: January 13th-March 16th (10 Weeks)

Rookie K-1st Grade: 4:00pm-5:00pm

Developmental 1st-3rd Grade: 5:00pm-6:00pm

Advanced 3rd-6th Grade: 6:00pm-7:00pm

Play Hard Hoops will return with its 8th season of Spring Leagues.  Our spring league is a great opportunity to stay sharp with basketball, get great instruction from the PHH Coaching Staff while also being able to play other spring sports.  The first two weeks of the program will be skills and evaluations so the PHH Coaching Staff can determine the format for the spring league putting the players into balanced teams against age and skill appropriate competition.

The 2019 Spring Season saw Play Hard Hoops work with over 350 Players in Locations that included: Lake Barrington, Vernon Hills, Lake Zurich, Chicago, Wheeling & Libertyville.



1st-3rd Grade Rookie League: 5PM - 6PM

3rd-4th Grade Play Hard League: 6PM - 7PM

4th-6th Grade Advanced League: 6PM - 7PM
